Human Rights Abuses in Nicaragua are often centered around land disputes, as large land owners of the Somoza Era reclaim lands distributed to campesinos (peasant farmers)during the Sandinista revolution. As many lose their lands, campesinos must work for meager wages or move to cities where many resort to begging. In this blog we will discover the story of Vicente Padilla, who rejected these options and chose to fight; whose case sets an example for thousands of campesinos across Nicaragua.

This blog is run by supporters of Vicente Padilla, a Nicaraguan campesino who is being persecuted by powerful landowner Jose Esteban McEwan and American coffee importer State Street Coffee. Among the organizations supporting Vicente and his family are CEPRHI (Ecumenical Committee of English-speaking Religious Personnel) and the Movimiento Comunal, both Nicaraguan organizations with Nicaraguan and international membership. i thought the padilla situation had been resolved, but haven't seen any updates on your blog whatsoever. any clue as to what is happening with his case?
